British YouTube creator Miles Routledge, known as Lord Miles, recently recovered his lost AirPods Pro in Kala Gujran near Jhelum, Pakistan, nearly a year after losing them in Dubai. This impressive recovery showcases Apple’s “lost mode” tracking feature, which provided real-time location updates, enabling Routledge to trace the AirPods across borders.
Without contacts in Pakistan, Routledge used social media to alert local authorities, tagging the Jhelum Police. District Police Officer Tariq Aziz Sindhu responded swiftly, leading a door-to-door search that uncovered the AirPods with an individual who had unknowingly bought them from an Indian national in Dubai. Routledge traveled to Pakistan to retrieve his earbuds and praised the police for their prompt action.
However, the story took a controversial turn when Routledge publicly blamed Indians for the theft, accusing Indian cleaners in Dubai of stealing the AirPods and selling them to someone in Pakistan. He made inflammatory statements about India and its people, sparking widespread backlash given his history of controversial remarks about Indians.
Despite the controversy, this incident highlights the effectiveness of Apple’s tracking technology in recovering lost devices across international borders.
